Admission and application

ADMISSION of International students to the two-year master degree program in “Food and Beverage Innovation and Management” (FABIAM) is subjected to the possession of (for more information please visit

1.  Curricular requirements

Candidates must have a first level university degree in Food Science/Food Technologies studies. Students with university degrees in other areas may also apply. The Admission Committee (AC) will evaluate the suitability of the degree.

2.  Requirements related to linguistic knowledge (English)

Candidates must satisfy at least one of the following alternatives:

a) English mother tongue;

b) High School Diploma obtained after the completion of a course of study of at least four years of duration and where English is the language of teaching;

c) Bachelor degree (B.A. or B.Sc. or similar) obtained after the completion of a course of at least three years of duration and where English is the language of teaching;

d) A certified B2 level of English such as for example Cambridge ESOL First Certificate of English, IELTS 5.5 and above, ETS TOEFL iBT 69 and above.

However, candidates that do not possess at least one of the above mentioned requirements can register to the MSc programme with the mandatory attendance of an English course of 6 credits (ECTS) (intermediate level B2) in the first year of MSc.

3.  Suitability of education

Subject to curricular requirements, the admission to FABIAM is subjected to the examination of the personal preparation, with particular attention to the knowledge and the skills needed to follow profitably the programme:

  •  knowledge of the main physical, chemical and biochemical events that occur during the production and storage of food and beverages;
  •  basic knowledge of food microbiology and food hygiene;
  •  knowledge of the main unit operations and technologies employed in the food industry;
  •  awareness of the complementary nature of the knowledge acquired in the different areas in order to manage a food process and to optimize the  quality of final products;
  •  be familiar with the basic economic theories about supply, demand, production and trade.

The AC will check your competence by means of a skype interview.

b)     Italian and EU candidates with a foreign Degree

The enrolment procedure is in 4 steps:

 

Step 1: Pre-acceptance procedure

First batch: from March 6th to July 17th, 2017.

Second batch from September 1st to October 16th, 2017.

You can submit your pre-application online at our web platform

 

Step 2: Admission Procedure

The AC will examine your pre-application documentation and, if appropriate, send an email to set up the date for a skype interview. If the interview is positive the AC will send you a letter of acceptance and you can start to prepare the documents for the enrolment procedure according to step 3 below.

 

Step 3: Validation of your qualifications at the Italian Embassy

Contact the Italian Embassy in your country or the Italian Consulate nearest to you and present:

  •   your university degree;
  •   a certificate issued by the competent academic authority listing the exams you have passed;
  •   official study programme including all the learning activities completed to obtain the foreign academic qualification, on the headed paper of the       foreign university, with stamp and signature. Translation is not required for programmes originally produced in English, French, German, Greek,     Portuguese, Roumanian and Spanish;
  •   four passport photos.

 

Documents 1 and 2 must be legalized by the competent local authorities and accompanied by a translation into Italian by a certified translator/public notary (please check with the Italian Embassy/Consulate about the right procedure).

 

The Embassy will:

  •   issue the “declaration of value” of your university degree;
  •   certify the other documents.

 

NB. EU candidates and non-EU equivalent candidates may replace the exams certificate with the “Diploma Supplement” for academic qualifications issued by universities in the European Higher Education Area (Bologna Process).

 

Step 4: ENROLMENT AT UNIVPM (from July to November 6th, 2017)

Accepted candidates have to complete the enrolment procedure at the Università Politecnica delle Marche submitting the following documents to the “Segreteria Studenti - Agraria”

  •   a signed copy of the application for enrolment (to be downloaded and printed) PLEASE SEE TUITION FEE section;
  •    the receipt of payment of the first instalment of the tuition fee;
  •   one front and back photocopy of your ID card or other valid identity document;
  •   two passport photos;
  •   the original of your university degree and of the exams certificate accompanied by the certified translations (the exam certificate can be replaced     by the Diploma Supplement);
  •   declaration of value issued by the Embassy or Consulate of the applicants' home country;
  •   official syllabus of the learning activities completed to obtain the foreign academic qualification, on the headed paper of the foreign university with   stamp and signature;
  •   copy of the residence permit or receipt, confirming the application for the permit (only for non-EU equivalent candidates).

c)      Non-EU candidates residing abroad

The enrolment procedure is in four steps

Step 2: Admission Procedure

The Admission Committee (AC) will examine your documentation and if appropriate send an email to set up the date for a skype interview. If the interview is positive the AC will send you a letter of acceptance and you can start to prepare the documents for the enrolment procedure according to step 3 below.

 

Step 3: Pre-enrolment through the Italian Embassy/Consulate

Please note that the letter of acceptance doesn’t substitute the compulsory pre-enrolment through the Italian Embassy-Consulate in your home country within due date, as established in each country by the Italian Embassy (the deadline is July 21st, 2017).

Please contact the Italian Embassy in your country or the Italian Consulate nearest to you as soon as possible and present:

  •   the pre-enrolment applicationPre-enrolment is usually available at Italian Embassies from end of March to the beginning of July;
  •   your university degree;
  •   a certificate issued by the competent academic authority listing the exams you have passed;
  •   official study programme including all the learning activities completed to obtain the foreign academic qualification, on the headed paper of the       foreign university, with stamp and signature;
  •   four passport photos.

 

Documents 2 and 3 must be legalized by the competent local authorities and accompanied by a translation into Italian by a certified translator/public notary (please check with the Italian Embassy/Consulate about the right procedure).

 

The Embassy will:

  •   issue the “declaration of value” of your university degree;
  •   certify the other documents;
  •   authenticate passport photo and issue an entry visa to Italy

 

Step 4: ENROLMENT AT UNIVPM (from July to November 6th 2017)

Accepted candidates have to complete the enrolment procedure at the Università Politecnica delle Marche submitting the following documents to the “Segreteria Studenti”:

  •   a signed copy of the application for enrolment (to be downloaded and printed) PLEASE SEE "TUITION FEE" section;
  •   the receipt of payment of the first instalment of the tuition fee;
  •   copy of the passport and Visa for “STUDIO”;
  •   2 passport photos;
  •   the original of your university degree and of the exams certificate accompanied by the certified translations;
  •   declaration of value issued by the Embassy or Consulate of the applicants' home country;
  •   official syllabus of the learning activities completed to obtain the foreign academic qualification, on the headed paper of the foreign university with   stamp and signature, translated into Italian;
  •   copy of the residence permit or receipt, confirming the application for the permit (only for non-EU equivalent candidates)
